- The Client
-
Vireo is a city planning and design firm that helps departments of transportation with projects ranging from small-scale improvements of parks and trails to large-scale highway construction planning.
Included in the company’s many offerings is community outreach pertaining to city planning projects.
- The Problem
-
When the company conducted community outreach surveys, participants were required to respond using pencil and paper. The responses, in turn, were manually entered into a database. Since the data entry was manual, the process was slow and the records were prone to errors.
Vireo needed a contemporary, image-driven, mobile-optimized polling platform. Unfortunately, existing online survey tools did not adequately fit their requirements.
- The Solution
-
In response to Vireo’s call for help, Blue Symphony delivered Digicate™, a custom-built, multilingual crowdsourcing solution. Digicate™ presents image-based “tap and go” polls designed especially for tablets and other mobile devices. The company’s nontechnical staff can create and publish new polls within minutes.
- The Results
-
iPads and mobile phones replaced pen and paper, which immediately improved participant experience. The simplicity and speed of the online surveys result in a larger data sampling. Data calculations are automated and in real time, which dramatically shortens discovery and reporting timelines while markedly increasing accuracy.
With Digicate™, Vireo has been able to expand its services and strengthen its value proposition.
